About Us
Corporate vision of the HS/HSV Symphony Guild
Our Vision
- To support and promote the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
- To support and encourage music education for young people in the Hot Springs Area.
- To present and foster an appreciation of fine music in our community.
In keeping with the first of the organization's missions, more than 1,400 Guild members will have the opportunity to attend a broad selection of professional musical concerts sponsored by the Guild during the concert season. The venues range from smaller gatherings in a cabaret setting to larger concerts presented at the 650 seat Woodlands Auditorium. Some concerts are presented free of charge and the others have a nominal ticket charge to cover expenses. The range of artist and music selections provides something of interest for everyone. In addition, the Guild will support other music related activities such as our support for the purchase of the Concert Grand Steinway piano now being used at the Woodlands and publicizing musical events being brought by other organizations to our members.
For our second mission, the Guild actively supports the ASO with financial, promotional, and personal assistance such as The President of the Guild serving on the Board of the ASO. One half of our membership dues is donated to the ASO. Since our inception in 1985, we have contributed over $250,000.00 to the Symphony. Guild members also attend the Pops Concerts and Masterworks Series at the Robinson Center, many taking advantage of the bus service offered by the Guild. Guild members have also volunteered as hosts and hostesses in support of the Little Rock Guild's Designer Home project.
Finally, the Guild generously supports music education for students in the greater Hot Springs area by providing college scholarships for outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists; by providing scholarships to the ASO Youth Orchestras; by paying for summer music camps for deserving students; by helping to provide outreach educational in-classroom programs; and by providing mini-grants to elementary and intermediate schools for music supplies and equipment. The Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild has provided more than five hundred thousand dollars to further music and music education in the community The Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild contributes more dollars toward scholarships and education support than any other organization in the Village.
To support these endeavors, the Guild receives dues of $15.00 a year and special donations from members, as well as the support from Guild-sponsored fundraising activities and corporate contributions. In addition, there are motor coach trips to entertainment destinations, which are enjoyed by members and generate funds for the Guild. The Guild has two major periodic fundraisers. First is the "Harmony of Homes Tour" in Hot Springs Village, which has been a popular, traditional event for several years. Second is the "Symphony Soiree," a delightful and entertaining themed dinner event. It is the Guild's intent to present these two events in alternate years.
