We are fast approaching another musical experience at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs, when the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO) performs the Children's Concert for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders from various area schools. The performance is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM. This concert is for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders from various area schools. The theme for the concert is Symphony Safari, featuring programmatic music that takes the audience on a journey through rivers, mountains and jungles ending with celebratory music of different cultures. While very literacy-based, the concert makes strong connections with science, social studies, geography, math and, of course, music and art. The program is a repeat of the program five years ago, but updates with some different music and curriculum connections and suggestions. The Guild organizes and funds this event each year.
On the day of the concert, our role is to direct the students and teachers in safely entering and exiting the Arena. Many of you have volunteered in the past and hopefully many of you who have not participated will be able to do so this year and enjoy the experience. We need 40-50 volunteers to help direct the children and teachers to their correct spot in the Arena. The Concert starts promptly at 10:00 AM, therefore volunteers should be at the Arena by 8:45 AM to allow time to get your instructions. This will also allow you to familiarize yourself with the layout of the Arena. We also need volunteers outside the arena to help with directing traffic and unloading the school buses before the concert and loading them again after the concert.
If you would like to volunteer to help at this event and have not already been contacted, please contact Bev Thompson at 922-0036 or bgolfd@sbcglobal.net.
